Design notes
With my Snaring Dogs overdrives, I created overdrive pedals that sounded like amplifier output tubes being cooked. There were no (preamp) tubes in the pedals because the sound of preamp tube distortion is a much smaller sound.
I decided to take these designs a bit further …. bring them over the top and add a few more stages of gain. The RedZone Polterdrive II was born. It possesses a wide frequency range and allows me to cut hi and lo frequencies for amazing sound sculpting. I added a separate tone control that can be taken out of the circuit completely so the sound can be shaped from my amp and guitar.
The RedZone PolterDrive II is a multistage overdrive distortion pedal. The first stage or OD Zone is capable of delivering great vintage style overdrive sounds, and kicking in the second stages or ODD Zone, gives you more saturation and crazy distortion. There is a Tone/Bypass toggle so you can defeat the Tone circuit if you wish, or leave it in the Tone position and dial in the perfect sound with the rotary tone control. Plus, there is also a Moan/Scream tone filter toggle, giving you even more options. Separate Vol/Gain and Overdive/Distortion knobs allow for endless possibilities.Don’t let the size fool you. The Polterdrive 2 can give you any sound from mild gain boost to vintage overdrive, fuzz, classic overdrive and screaming metal. You can even dial in that Eric Clapton "Woman Tone".
